Physical Standards

  1. Height:

  • Male: 157.5 cm (Army), 157 cm (Navy), 162.5 cm (Air Force).

  • Female: 152 cm (min).

  • Relaxations: 5 cm less for Gorkhas, Garhwalis, North-Eastern states; 2 cm less for Lakshadweep.

  1. Weight: Proportional to height and age (BMI below 25 recommended).

  2. Vision: Corrected 6/6 (better eye) & 6/9 (worse eye); specific limits for myopia/hypermetropia.

  3. Chest (Males): Well-developed with 5 cm expansion after full inspiration.

Common Medical Disqualifications:

  • Spinal Issues: Arthritis, Spondylosis, Scoliosis (>15 degrees), Spinal Fractures.

  • Other Conditions: Piles, Wax in ears, Tonsillitis, Hydrocele, Phimosis, Gynaecomastia, Varicocele, Chronic diseases (Diabetes, Heart conditions).

  • Tattoos: Permanent tattoos on most body parts are not allowed, except certain traditional tribal markings or small ones on inner forearm/back of hand
