TN Govt Polytechnic Admission 2026 – Quick Summary

Seat Allocation & Courses

• Regular Diploma Courses: 100% seats filled under Merit Quota

• Sandwich Diploma Courses:

  • 50% seats under Merit Quota

  • 50% seats under Sponsored (Industry) Quota

Allocation of Seats (Reservation Categories)

Admissions will be made based on reservation policies under the following categories:

• Open Competition (OC)

• Backward Class (BC)

• Backward Class (Muslim)

• Most Backward Class / DNC

• Scheduled Caste (SC)

• SC (Arunthathiyars)

• Scheduled Tribe (ST)

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification:

• Must have passed 10th Standard (SSLC) or equivalent

• No age limit

Selection Process

Regular Diploma Courses:

• Selection is based on total marks obtained in SSLC / equivalent exam

• Rank list prepared based on marks + reservation rules

• If marks exceed 500, it will be normalized to a base of 500

Sandwich Diploma Courses:

• 50% seats → Merit-based (same as regular courses)

• 50% seats → Sponsored by approved industries

• Duration: 3.5 years (7 semesters)

• Includes both classroom study + in-plant training
