Orissa High Court DEO Syllabus for Section A: Preliminary Examination
Section A is a preliminary examination which carries 150 marks in accordance with the Graduation subject. The subjects of General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude. The total time applicable is 2 hours. Let us look at some of its detailed points.
There will be 150 numbers of Objective Type of Questions with Multiple Choice Answers.
There will be a deduction of 0.5 marks for every wrong answer.
The cut off marks will be decided by the recruiting body and it changes every year according to the difficulty level of the examination.
The minimum cut off marks is 33% for S.C and S.T and 40% for General Category.

This test evaluates a candidate's knowledge in both English and Odia language. The total marks for this test is 100 and it is for 2 hours. The marks secured in this Language Test will not be taken into accounting while finalizing the final marksheet. The marks division for each topic of this test are mentioned below.

The Computer Application Test consists of Theory and Skill Test. The duration of the test is 1 hour and maximum marks is 100. The marks secured in this test will not be accounted for in the final merit list. Detailed instructions are given below.

Orissa High Court DEO Syllabus for Section D: Main Written Examination
This test will evaluate the candidates' typing speed. This is also called a Typewriting Test in English. Main Written Examination is the final round before viva-voce. The examination is of 100 marks. Let’s look at a few of its details.
The test will be held for 10 minutes and the candidates are required to type from a printed paper.
The content will be approximately 400 words with a speed of 40 words per minute.
1 mark will be deducted for each mistake in the typed script. Omitting words will be treated as a mistake.
Candidates whose script has more than 20 mistakes will be disqualified.
Orissa High Court DEO Syllabus for Final Section: Viva-voce
The marks secured by the candidates in the Viva-Voce Test shall be added to the marks obtained by him / her in the Main Written Examination (Typewriting Test in English) so as to arrive at the total marks secured by him/ her, and the names of the candidates shall be arranged in order of merit on the basis of such total marks. The total marks for this test is 20.
The names of the candidates will not be included in the Merit List, if the candidates secure less than 40% of marks in the Viva-Voce Test.
