Indian Navy, one of the critical arms of the defence forces in India, offers a world of challenges and opportunities for young defence aspirants. One can join it as Sailor, Officer, or Civilian. Matric Recruitment is a way for 10th pass candidates to join Indian Navy as Sailor.
Chef (MR): You will prepare food and do accounting of ration. Food will be vegetarian as well as non vegetarian. You will also get training in firing arms and get allotment of other duties that are required for smooth functioning of the organization.
Steward (MR): You will serve food to officers in messes. Donning the role of waiter, housekeeping, fund accounting, and you will also look after wine and stores, menu preparation. You too will get training of firearm handling and get other jobs as per need basis.
Hygienist (MR): You will be responsible for maintaining levels of hygiene in washrooms and other places. You will also get firearm handling training. Plus you will get other roles as required.
Pay and allowances
Rs 14,600 will be the stipend during initial training period.
Rs 21,700 – Rs 69,100 Level 3 of Defence Pay Matrix + MSP @ Rs 5200 + DA after completion of training.
Prospect of promotion for Sailor (MR) entry exist upto Master Chief Petty Officer I who is at Level 8 of Defence Pay Matrix [Rs 47,600 – Rs 1,51,100 + MSP @ Rs 5200 + DA].
Promotion to commissioned officer also exist for those who perform well and qualify the exam.
Sailors get books, reading material, uniform, food, accommodation. Medical treatment, leave travel concessions for self and dependents, group housing benefits and other privileges also exist. Post retirement benefits are pension, gratuity, leave encashment.
Sailors get insurance cover of Rs 50 lakh (on contribution).
