RRB JE Exam Pattern 2023

The RRB Junior Engineer Exam Pattern consists of two stages of the Computer Based Test – CBT 1 and CBT 2. Candidates who qualify for CBT 1 will be eligible to appear for CBT 2. The RRB JE Exam Pattern 2023 is as follows:

CBT 1:

  • The exam duration is 90 minutes.
  • The number of questions asked in the exam is 100.
  • The questions will be of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) type.
  • The maximum marks for the exam are 100.
  • Negative marking of 0.33 marks (1/3) for every wrong answer.
  • The subjects included in CBT 1 are Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, and General Science.

CBT 2:

  • The exam duration is 120 minutes.
  • The number of questions asked in the exam is 150.
  • The questions will be of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) type.
  • The maximum marks for the exam are 150.
  • Negative marking of 0.33 marks (1/3) for every wrong answer.
  • The subjects included in CBT 2 are General Awareness, Physics, and Chemistry, Basics of Computers and Applications, Basics of Environment and Pollution Control, and Technical Abilities.

RRB Junior Engineer 2023 Syllabus

CBT 1 Syllabus:

Mathematics: Number Systems, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM and HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Simple, and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern, etc.

General Intelligence and Reasoning: Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision Making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions, etc.

General Awareness: Knowledge of Current affairs, Indian geography, culture, and history of India including freedom struggle, Indian Polity, and constitution, Indian Economy, Environmental issues concerning India and the World, Sports, General scientific and technological developments, etc.

General Science: Physics, Chemistry, and Life Sciences (up to 10th Standard CBSE syllabus).

CBT 2 Syllabus:

General Awareness: Knowledge of Current affairs, Indian geography, culture, and history of India including freedom struggle, Indian Polity, and constitution, Indian Economy, Environmental issues concerning India and the World, Sports, General scientific and technological developments, etc.

Physics and Chemistry: Up to 12th standard CBSE syllabus.

Basics of Computer and Applications: Architecture of Computers; input and Output devices; Storage devices, Networking, Operating Systems like Windows, Unix, Linux; MS Office

RRB JE 2023 Technical Abilities

Mechanical & Allied Engineering: This syllabus includes topics such as Engineering Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Theory of Machines and Machine Design, Fluid Mechanics and Machines, Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics, Power Engineering, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, etc.

Computer Science and Information Technology: This syllabus includes topics such as Computer Fundamentals, Programming and Data Structures, Computer Organization and Architecture, Databases, Operating Systems, Computer Networks, Web Technologies, Software Engineering, etc.

Electrical & Allied Engineering: This syllabus includes topics such as Basic Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Measurements, Electric Circuits and Fields, Electrical Machines, Power Systems, Control Systems, Power Electronics and Drives, Digital Electronics, etc.
