Paper-I English 
  • An exercise in composition to test a candidate’s ability to write in simple and correct English. It may be an essay or drafting a report or a letter of about 400 words from points or materials supplied.
  • To write a précis of a series of correspondence or a summary of a given passage to test the candidate’s capacity for comprehension and expression.
  • Translation from Bengali, Kokborok, Hindi as the case may be, to English.
  • Correction of sentences.
  • Punctuation.
  • Correct use of words and common phrases.
Paper-II Bengali
  • An essay or a letter of about 400 words to test a candidate’s ability to write in elegant Bengali.
  • To condense a prose passage of about 1000 words.
  • Translation from English to Bengali.
